Why you’ll love coming to my Baking Retreats

Five years ago, I started hosting baking retreats as a fun way to teach my Baking Academy students in person. I quickly realized they were about so much more than baking. Nine retreats later, I’ve watched women learn new skills, make lasting friendships, and leave with some pretty incredible memories.

Now it feels especially full circle to welcome you to my home state of Arizona! We’ll be gathering during one of my favorite times of year—citrus season, when the lemon and orange trees are loaded with fruit. And you can bet we’ll be putting all that beautiful Arizona citrus to good use in our baking!

When you come to my retreat, you’ll enjoy:

  • Hands-on baking classes with professional instruction and plenty of one-on-one help.
  • New friendships with women who love baking as much as you do.
  • Incredible food with delicious meals prepared for you by my friend and amazing professional chef and food blogger, Amy Williams (@mynameissnickerdoodle). You will eat GOOD! Not to mention all the yummy treats we’ll be baking!
  • Time just for you to step away from everyday responsibilities, recharge, and enjoy doing something you love.

The Fun Stuff

LEARN: Get ready to roll up your sleeves! Through several hands-on baking classes, you’ll tackle beautiful, skill-building recipes designed to challenge you, teach you new techniques, and build your confidence in the kitchen.

We’ll be making:

  • Pavlova with homemade lemon curd
  • Lemon Blueberry Babka
  • Royal Icing Sugar Cookies
  • French Macarons

HAVE FUN: Step away from your everyday routine and let us take care of you for a few days. With the meals, activities, and details taken care of, all you need to do is show up, bake, relax, laugh, and enjoy time with new friends. In addition to all the yummy baking, we have a BIG mahjongg night planned, and other really fun surprises!

EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE: French Macaron Class at JL Patisserie

For one of our classes, we’re heading to Arizona’s most celebrated French bakery, JL Patisserie, for a special hands-on French macaron class! We’ll learn from owner and French-trained pastry chef Jenna Leurquin as she shares her techniques for creating beautiful, authentic macarons—from the shells and fillings to piping, baking, and decorating.

Bonus Class!

I’ve been so lucky to have my friend Kelcie Hardy by my side as my retreat assistant, and this time, she’s stepping into the teacher role! Kelcie, owner of Kelcie Bakes Cakes, is a professional cake and cookie decorator who has created thousands of beautiful cakes and cookies for weddings, birthdays, showers, and celebrations.

In her hands-on Royal Icing Sugar Cookie class, Kelcie will share her favorite tips and techniques for creating beautifully decorated cookies with confidence. You’ll practice the techniques yourself and create your own set of specially designed cookies to take home and show off to your family!

Retreat FAQ’s

A Special Thank You to My Baking Academy Members

My Baking Retreats actually began because of my Baking Academy members. Five years ago, I wanted a way to get out from behind the screen, bake alongside you in person, and bring the community we were building online together in real life. Ten retreats later, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than by giving my members exclusive access to this very special retreat.

The Spring 2027 Baking Retreat is exclusively for Baking Academy members as a thank you for being part of this community and continuing to bake and learn with me.

Not a member yet? You can still come! Simply join the Baking Academy before the lottery closes September 18, midnight PT, and you’ll be eligible to enter. You can always cancel your membership down the road if you decide it’s not for you—although I hope you’ll stick around and keep baking with me each month!

How to Get One of the 24 Spots

There are only 24 spots available for this special 10th Baking Retreat! Because past retreats have sold out within seconds, I’m doing registration differently this time. No refreshing the website or racing through checkout! Instead, retreat spots will be selected through a lottery.

To enter, fill out the registration form and submit a $100 lottery fee per person by midnight Pacific Time on September 18. (The fee is refundable – keep on reading!)

This is a women’s only retreat. You must be a woman, 18 years or older to attend.

No day passes will be offered for this retreat.

Coming With a Friend?

Enter together! Only one person in your group needs to fill out the lottery form, but you’ll submit a $100 lottery payment for each person attending. Two friends will pay $200; three friends will pay $300. All attendees must be a member of the Baking Academy.

Your group will be entered and selected together, so you won’t have to worry about one of you getting a spot without the others.

What Happens After You Enter?

On September 19, I’ll randomly draw entries to fill the 24 available spots and notify everyone by email.

If you’re selected: Your $100 per-person lottery payment will be applied toward your $1,000 per-person non-refundable deposit. You’ll receive an invoice for the remaining $900 per person, which must be paid promptly to secure your spot. All payments will be invoiced through PayPal (which can be paid by credit or debit card).

If you’re not selected: Your $100 lottery payment will be refunded in full, and you’ll have the option to join the waitlist in case a spot becomes available.
