1/4 cup olive oil for brushing onto the dough before topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F. If using baking stone, preheat stone in oven. Sprinkle cornmeal onto pizza peel.
Combine all the dough ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer. Knead on low for 3 minutes, making sure the dough is cleaning the sides of the bowl.
Let dough rest for 10 minutes.
Gather together all of your toppings.
Divide dough into 3 equal pieces. Roll into pizza shape, about 10 inches.
Place dough on the prepared pizza peel.
Brush olive oil onto dough. This will prevent the pizza from getting soggy from the toppings and it will give it a rich, Italian flavor.
Top with your favorite pizza toppings.
Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes. Remove from baking stone, slice up and serve.
Notes
Baking stones really make a big difference with homemade pizza. It really gives you that brick oven taste and texture. If you don’t have a baking stone, use a baking sheet lined with parchment and sprinkled with cornmeal.
I prefer to use instant yeast because you can simply add it to your ingredients without having to activate it. However, you can substitute instant yeast for active yeast. You will need to sprinkle it in 1/4 cup warm water and let it bubble up. This activates the yeast.
Freeze pizza dough in a freezer bag for future use. When using frozen dough, put it in the refrigerator to thaw the night before you want to use it. Roll it out and bake as normal.
Make individual size pizzas. This recipe will yield 6 individual size pizzas.
